AC major Blue Star forays into water projects market; bags Rs 375 crore piped supply orders in Odisha
India’s leading air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company Blue Star Limited has made a foray into the highly competitive water projects market and announced that it has bagged three rural water supply orders in Odisha worth Rs 375 crore.
Blue Star said the three projects have been procured from the state’s Department of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) and are for execution of piped water supply to various villages.
The first order is for execuibn of mega piped water supply (PWS) to 144 villages in Baliapal Block of Balasore District. The Rs 126.51 crore order includes five years of operation & maintenance. The second order worth Rs 62.16 crore is for execution of water supply through pipes to 72 villages under 11 Gram Panchayats of Nischintakoili block of Cuttack district. THe order also includes five years of operation & maintenance.
The company said the third order worth Rs 186.68 crore is for piped water supply to 13 Gram Panchayats (GPs) of Banki, 17 GPs of Dampada, and two GPs of Baranga block in Cuttack district and includines five years of operation & maintenance.
The scope of all the orders comprises field investigation and total station survey, soil investigation, hydraulic and structural design, procurement, construction, and erection
of electro-mechanical equipment as well as testing and commissioning. The projects have to be complted within 24 months.
“We are already an established player in both the products and the projects businesses. For quite some time now, we have been focusing on capitalising on our project management expertise to expand our project management credentials by venturing into new/related projects, and our entry into the water projects business is a step forward in this direction”, said Blue Star Limited Managing Director B Thiagarajan.
“We intend to significantly, further spread our wings in the projects space in the coming years. Specific to these new orders, we are glad that with our knowledge and capabilities we are contributing towards the development of India’s rural economy”, he added.
Blue Star, a leading player in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) space in electromechanical projects, had entered into the water purifiers market in India in 2018.
