VA Tech Wabag invests in Bengaluru-based start-up Nimble Vision

Chennai-based water technology major VA Tech Wabag has announced its first commitment for investment under its ‘Blue Seed’ initiative in Bengaluru-based Nimble Vision, a start-up building advanced indigenous deep-tech solutions for water conservation, automation and real-time analytics.

The collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s self-reliant water technology ecosystem — combining Nimble Vision’s deep-tech innovation with Wabag’s global experience to accelerate digital transformation in water infrastructure and enable better water accountability across municipalities, industries, and residential users, said an official statement.

Wabag did not specify the amount of investment in Nimble Vision.

“Through Blue Seed, Wabag is deepening its commitment to innovation-led growth in the water sector. Our investment in Nimble Vision marks a strong step in that direction. While the seed amount remains confidential, this strategic commitment gives Wabag a key stake in the company. Beyond capital, we will mentor the Nimble Vision team, open access to our global markets, and provide incubation support across our Indian and international offices”, the statement said.

Wabag had launched the ‘Blue Seed’ initiative in May 2024 to support start-ups in the water sector. Wabag would invest in, nurture and empower promising start-ups with innovative water technology solutions that will shape a secure and sustainable water future, a company official had told India Water Review.

The company will invest in early-stage water technology start-ups with high growth potential and will provide comprehensive support and resources to accelerate the success of these Waterpreneurs. While the amount of investment may not be considerable, the initiative aims to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of Waterpreneurs, who will collaboratively contribute to global water security and resilience, the official said.

The company said the strategic investment in Nimble Vision will help it to expand IoT-based automation systems for water supply, treatment, and distribution and enhance AI-driven predictive analytics for leakage detection, energy optimization, and water quality management. It would also accelerate the development of indigenous smart sensors and controllers under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative as well as help deploy scalable water conservation and automation platforms across municipalities, industries, and communities.
