Indian Hume Pipe Co gets Rs 600-crore work contracts in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh

Mumbai-based Indian Hume Pipe Company has received two back-to-back work contracts with a value of about Rs 600 crore in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

The listed company said it has received letter of acceptance (LoA) for a project worth Rs 198.80 crore from Minor Irrigation and Ground Water Development Division, Kalaburagi in Karnataka.

The scope of work involves filling of tanks in Kalaburagi (south) taluka of Kalaburagi district by lifting water from Bennethora reservoir for ground water development and drinking water purpose on turkey basis including operation and maintenance for five years. The project is to be completed in 24 months.

Indian Hume Pipe Company is engaged in construction and maintenance of water supply, irrigation, sanitation and sewerage system projects and manufacturing of pipes.

The Karnataka order was followed by a revised letter of acceptance (LoA) from the State Water & Sanitation Mission, Uttar Pradesh for water supply schemes. The earlier LoA was cancelled by SWSM.

The company had received the first LoA for water supply schemes in various villages of Kanpur division entailing work worth Rs 550 crore.

The revised project areas of Kanpur division are Auraiya, Etawah, Farukhabad, Kanpur Rural, Kanpur Urban and Kannauj districts. The value of work order will be around Rs 400 crore, which is as per the minimum amount of tender.

However, the company said the total contract value of the work for 550 villages will be finalized and awarded after submission of detailed project report (DPR) by it and approval for the same by the state Government.

The submission of DPR will be done in tranches and needs to be submitted within 180 days from the date of receipt of list of villages by the company from SWSM. Thereafter, the LoA will be issued for each scheme and multipartite agreement will be signed.

The project is to be completed within 21 months from the date of signing of multipartite agreements and the operation & maintenance period is 10 years after completion of project. The initial agreement will be signed in due course, the company said.
