L&T bags repeat rural water supply contract in Uttar Pradesh

Engineering & construction major L&T has bagged a large contract involving rural water supply projects from Uttar Pardesh Government. The comapny said the order is a repeat one from the State Water & Sanitation Mission (SWSM) and seeks to provide functional house tap connections (FHTC) under the Centre’s flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

L&T’s water & effluent treatment business has been entrusted to implement rural water supply projects catering to the potable water requirement of 1900 villages in the Prayagraj Revenue Division of Prayagraj district. The scope comprises construction of tube wells, pump houses-cum-chlorination rooms, overhead tanks, treatment systems, solar plants, rising main & distribution pipeline network, staff quarters and individual house connections, including allied electromechanical & automation works.

The company’s water & effluent treatment business is already executing water supply schemes in Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakhoot, Gonda, Varanasi, Lucknow and Sonbhadra disgtricts for the SWSM.

An official statement said the company’s smart water infrastructure segment of the water & effluent treatment business has been awarded a contract for an integrated infrastructure project at Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu by the Silvassa Smart City Limited.

The scope of work includes constructing 68 Km of smart roads along with storm water drains, cross drainage structures, 24×7 water supply system, sewerage collection network, and street lighting.

This project is a part of the Centre’s ‘Smart Cities Mission’. With this order, the smart water infrastructure business has reinforced its credentials in building smart cities and driving the development of smart infrastructure across the country.

L&T has classified the orders as ‘Large’, which puts them in the Rs 2500-5000 crore range in terms of value.
